Welcome to Beston's No Holds Barred! The page was originally known as Thingvold's No Holds Barred. It was started years ago by Shogun of Harlem as a joke in dedication of the Internet's greatest 'Trash Talker', Shaun Andrew Thingvold, then years later the site was rededicated to Australian MMA legend Luke Beston. I want to make it clear that the only affiliation Shaun has with this page is when he sends us an e-mail or posts on the forum. If you are looking for him then leave a message for him on the 'Message Board'. Other than that we can not help you in any attempt to get a hold of him.

The news provided here is a little different. There are tons of news sources on the internet and if you don't know where to go then check out our links page. What we attempt to bring here is stuff that is not found at other places, but what we think might be interesting for Martial Art fans (and a little funny). Thanks for supporting us!

Convicted murderer and internet fraud Rafiel Torre sentenced to life in prison

This slipped under the radar of most MMA news sites, but on September 29, 2005, Rafiel Torre was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for the murder of Bryan Richards. Relatives of the victim stood in court and berated Torre before the sentence was handed down, calling him "scum" and a "parasite" for killing the 32 year old father of two.

"You were trained to fight in a cage, that was your job,'' Richards' mother, Helen Richards, told Torre. "Now guess what? You get to spend the rest of your life in a 6 by 8 cage. It's where you belong.''

Torre, a disgraced internet fraud born Ralph Bartel, murdered Richards on December 21, 2001 with a rear naked choke in the parking lot of an Albertson's supermarket. His widow, Angelina Richards, who despite repeatedly denying any involvement in the murder has long been suspected as Torre's accomplice, was finally implicated by Torre during his trial. While no charges have been filed against her, police are still investigating and the insurance company that she filed a claim against for her husband's $1 million life insurance policy has still refused to pay the claim under suspicion of foul play.

Fight prediction

I'm going to pick Castillo over Corrales like I did in their first fight for the reasons I did then - slightly better chin and he's slightly better overall technically. Castillo showed up a few pounds overweight and trying to take it off may take some of the fight out of him in the later rounds. Because he couldn't take it all off, Corrales keeps his titles even if he loses. Corrales is a 6 to 5 favorite and these 2 are so closely matched that I wouldn't go near it with a 10 foot pole as a bettor.

By the way, there's a new hybrid sport called chess boxing. Now some of the OG warriors who have records like 1-1 after 10 years of nhb fighting, may be able to pump up their fighting records if they brush up on their chess handbooks.

Fight predictions

I like Jones over Tarver based on my theory that all time great fighters have a way of winning big fights. Jones may not be in his prime, but I think he will turn back the clock and get a close decision.

I go with Byrd over Williamson by cutie pie decision, but I will be rooting for Williamson because Byrd is boring and overrated.

I'll go with Toney over Guinn by close decision. Guinn's a small heavyweight who can be very impressive when motivated. He won't have to worry about a size disadvantage against Toney and I expect him to be in shape tonight. This should be an entertaining fight.
