Welcome to Beston's No Holds Barred! The page was originally known as Thingvold's No Holds Barred. It was started years ago by Shogun of Harlem as a joke in dedication of the Internet's greatest 'Trash Talker', Shaun Andrew Thingvold, then years later the site was rededicated to Australian MMA legend Luke Beston. I want to make it clear that the only affiliation Shaun has with this page is when he sends us an e-mail or posts on the forum. If you are looking for him then leave a message for him on the 'Message Board'. Other than that we can not help you in any attempt to get a hold of him.

The news provided here is a little different. There are tons of news sources on the internet and if you don't know where to go then check out our links page. What we attempt to bring here is stuff that is not found at other places, but what we think might be interesting for Martial Art fans (and a little funny). Thanks for supporting us!

Here is a 'No Holds Barred' Biography of the legend, Shaun Andrew Thingvold. Read how this man became the greatest legend on the internet. Click Here

Various tidbits

Looks like I was wrong on the Barrera-Morales fight. Of course I could have went back and edited my pick to make it correct, but we run a clean ship here. Barrera has proved to be one of the all time greats and it will be interesting to see if he gets a rematch with Pacquiao.

There are some great fights coming up this weekend. First of all, look for Dominick Guinn to knock out a stiff on ESPN's next card. Then on the 4th there will be bouts on Showtime and HBO. Firts of all Im going to pick Samuel Peters over Jeremy Williams. Williams has always been a poor man's Mike Tyson - small with big fists, so he always has a punchers chance. Peters is an unbeaten prospect with a good amateur background and this bout will be a good gauge on whether he's a prospect. Look for boxing's heaviest pound for pound puncher Jeff Lacy to knock out Omar Sheika on the same card and and I'll take Jose Luis Castillo by decision over Joel Casamayor. Casamayor is always capable of being a spoiler though. Over on HBO look for Jermain Taylor to slice and dice former champion William Joppy.

In troll news, Fightsport continues to be down, victim of nerd hackers.

I would not be surprised if it was a lone cyber vigiliante expressing his disdain for Fightsport's promotion of the peadophiliac lifestyle.

Fight prediction

Morales and Barrera are having their rubber match tonight. These 2 always seem to have close matches and tonight probably won't be diffrent. The difference this time is that they will be fighting at 130 which Barrera wasn't crazy about, but agreed to. More significant is the question of whether Barrera is in his prime anymore. Personally I don't think Barrera has been quite the same since he got that metal plate in his head. I'm going to go with Morales by close, but clear decision.

NHB Trolls Hall of Fame news

Finally, the section of Beston's NHB that I get the most requests for is coming soon: the NHB Trolls Hall of Fame! The section is still under development and should be up in early 2005, to coincide with a new ballot to induct two more trolls, so start thinking now about who deserves to be elected next and remember that the following trolls are already Hall of Famers, so they (or any newer known aliases that they post under) cannot be voted for again:

Shimora*
Chokeyou2*

Tape Lord†
BISON
King KnightMare (aka KKM)

Fatbody declines internet challenges

David "Fatbody" Horner

It seems that everyone wants to fight David "Fatbody" Horner these days, but Fatbody doesn't want to fight anyone! When his feud with Andreh Anderson at Fightsport was recently rekindled, a mystery backer offered $2,500.00 to the winner of a Horner vs Anderson fight. Anderson quickly agreed to fight Horner under Horner's choice of either MMA, BJJ or K-1 rules and even offered to get a legitimate promoter to host the fight at an event, but Horner refused to accept. Other fights against Tape Lord and piggle were also offered to Fatbody, but he turned them down as well. Despite taunts of cowardice by Fightsport forum members, we at LukeBeston.NET feel that Fatbody isn't scared at all and is just waiting for the right opportunity to show the world what a 250 pound BJJ blue belt can do in a fight. Keep your chin up, brah, we're rooting for you!

Fightsport upgrades forum security

After months of spam and nuke attacks that forced the disabling of the membership registration function, Fightsport.com has begun the process of installing several security upgrades that will protect the forum from lame script kiddies. How long the upgrades will take and whether or not they are part of the upcoming Fightsport version 2.0 has not been announced, but you can still access the Fightsport 24/7 newspage here: http://www.fightsport.com/fsport/fightsport/news/news.htm

Is Kimbo vs Gannon 2 in the works?

Wow, more than two months with no update! I was too busy to update the site for a while (and we had a period of silence to mourn the death of Bret "Jackol" Patelski), but things have slowed down again, so there should be no problem updating the news page regularly from now on. Here we go:

Sean "The Cannon" Gannon applies a guillotine choke to Kimbo Slice

The much hyped matchup between underground fighter Kimbo Slice and police officer Sean "The Cannon" Gannon finally took place with Gannon earning a very controversial win. Despite ending the fight with a convincing knockout (Kimbo was unable to get up even after two twenty counts), Gannon's victory was soiled by allegations that he broke an agreement to keep the fight a striking-only contest when he kneed Kimbo and later applied a guillotine choke. Gannon defended his performance by saying that the agreement was only to keep the fight standing and since both his knee strikes and submission hold were applied with both fighters on their feet, he didn't break any rules. The Team Kimbo camp has been quiet since the fight, but Gannon has been basking in the spotlight and even trying to extend his fifteen minutes of fame by suggesting that a rematch with Kimbo fought in a major event like K-1 would be a huge pay per view draw based on the number of times their fight was downloaded online. It would be interesting to see how a rematch would turn out since, despite dominating Kimbo, it was Gannon whose face looked like the Elephant Man's when the fight was over, while Kimbo was spotted partying with a bevy of porn star quality women later that night.

MM in cup throwing controversy

It turns out the man who threw his drink at Ron Artest in the Indiana-Detroit basketbrawl is none other than mma.tv's Machine May. Look at the photos for comaprison -

Personally I don't blame MM for dowsing Artest because he had no business mocking the Detroit crowd by laying out on the scorers table. MM also effectively helped take out Detroits chief rival in the playoffs because of the suspension.

In other news, it appears Shaun Thingvold scored a cameo in a martial arts film. Congratulations to him. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1112814/

My return

I making my long awaited return to The Beston's Blog. I will be specializing in boxing analysis, but also commenting on the MMA internet scene. Rather than be 100% at Figthsport, I will begin to split my time between there and this blog. Frankly I'm tired of seeing my posts, spammed, nuked or just drowned out by the "new breed of trolls". I wish it was just the enemies of Fightsport you had to worry about, but there is also a lot of in house dorks like Fatbody as well as anonymous nerds. Hopefully Tape Lord's new security measures will stengthen Fightsport to gain back its reputation as The Free Speech Monster. In the meantime I will be posting here more often so my posts can be savored like they deserve - like a great meal.

Now on to some fight anlysis - 7'2" freak Nicolai Valuev is scheduled to meet unbeaten Gerald "The Jedi" Nobles tonight. I'm not sure Ive ever seen either of them fight, but I'm going with the freak. Take a look at his pic-

As far as Mosely - Wright, like I said prior to the 1st fight, these 2 could fight 10 times and Winky would win 10 times. The last time Winky lost, he was robbed of a decision against Vargas. He's probably the best pure boxer at around this weight range except for Hopkins. You'll notice Hopkins has never called out Winky. This fight with Mosely will be a repeat of the first with Winky using his size and sharpness to dominate. He may even stop Mosely this time. If Mosely was smart he would stay at welterweight.
